Fête de la Musique Zwickau

After four successful Fête de la Musique in Zwickau, there is now a sequel! And this time it’s a Saturday, which means we can celebrate the music together for longer! What’s more, this time the Fête Zwickau is part of the Capital of Culture year and promises to be much more international.

There will be music of all possible genres. The whole thing is free for the public, thanks to all the bands, choirs and soloists who perform free of charge on the day. We’d like to say thank you in advance! The whole thing takes place between 5 and 10 pm at many locations in Zwickau city centre. And afterwards, the party continues in Zwickau’s pubs and bars!

If you want to perform at the Fête de la Musique 2025 in Zwickau, you can register easily and hassle-free. The registration deadline for the Fête 2025 is 11 May 2025. Simply fill out the registration form (PDF) and send it by email to joerg.moser@alter-gasometer.de.

“That sounds all well and good, but what exactly is the Fête de la Musique?”

What began in Paris in 1982 with the idea of the then French Minister of Culture Jack Lang and a great deal of musical idealism has long since developed into a global event. Every year on 21 June, the world celebrates the Fête de la Musique – the festival of music. It has also been taking place in Saxony for some time now and has also been held in Zwickau since 2021.
Special emphasis is placed on the original idea of the Fête, because here it really is still a street festival without stages or a “city festival character”. It is a participatory festival in which everyone can take part. It is a non-profit music festival that takes place every year on the day of the beginning of summer.

It is organised by various cultural players and citizens of the city, is open to the public, in the open air and there is no admission charge. There is music to be heard, whether professional or amateur. The Fête is open to all styles and musicians, who perform free of charge.
