Paris 1977: Maria Callas (Angelina Jolie) has withdrawn from the public eye for years. The legendary opera diva no longer sings and lives enraptured in her huge flat, behind heavy curtains, in a world full of memories. Only her faithful valet Ferruccio and the cook Bruna are close to her, and both are increasingly worried about the health of their lady of the house. When the TV reporter Mandrax appears, Maria Callas blossoms. The interviews with the young man take Maria back to better, great, legendary times. She decides to return to the stage one last time.
