We have been a partner of Stadtfest Zwickau and a member of the organising team since 2003, and that’s exactly how long we’ve been hosting Newcomer Night.

In good tradition, 4 regional newcomer bands and a nationally known headliner open the Zwickau City Festival on Thursday evening for the Gasometer warm-up (formerly Newcomer Night).

In the past (until 2018), the newcomer bands qualified via our band competition – the most traditional in the new federal states. Since 2019, we have been looking for and booking popular young regional bands directly.

In 2024, the city festival was shortened to three days and Thursday became Friday. However, we kept the concept and rocked the main market again this year.

An average of 3,500 fans of slightly harder music celebrate in the heart of the city.

They receive support from a well-known headliner – e.g. FARMER BOYS (2003), DOG EAT DOG (2004), MEGAHERZ (2005), EXILIA (2006), DONOTS (2007), DIE HAPPY (2008), TANZWUT (2009), special guest COPPELIUS, headliner: EMIL BULLS (2010), OOMPH! (2011), Special Guest: 4LYN, Headliner: ITCHY POOPSKID (2012), TURBOSTAAT (2013), XANDRIA (2014), HAGGARD METAL ORCHESTRA (2015), LETZTE INSTANZ (2016), HEISSKALT (2017), HÄMATOM (2018), CITY KIDS FEEL THE BEAT, ANNISOKAY (2019), MAKE WAR (2022), KAFFKIETZ (2022) and MILLIARDEN (2022), CNVX (2023), FUTURE PALACE (2023), MONO Inc. (2023), SETYOURSAILS (2024), LORD OF THE LOST (2024).

In 2023, the Alte Gasometer also organised another day at the city festival. Also taking part were: JUPITER JONES (2023), MALIK HARRIS (2023) and DR. DONNER (2023).
