Youth participation
Youth participation in democracy education is important for several reasons:
- Strengthening democracy: Young people are the future of a society. By participating in democratic processes at an early stage and expressing their opinions, the democratic culture is strengthened and the legitimacy of the political system is increased.
- Participation and co-determination: Young people should have the opportunity to take part in decision-making processes and represent their interests. This makes them feel heard and taken seriously.
- Political education: By participating in political processes, young people learn how democracy works, develop political awareness and become responsible citizens.
- Diversity: Young people bring different perspectives, experiences and ideas to the democratic discourse, which leads to a more diverse and inclusive society.
- Prevention of disenchantment with politics: If young people are involved in political decision-making processes at an early stage, they are more likely to get involved in social issues in the long term and not become disenchanted with politics.
- Innovation and progress: Young people are often creative, innovative and willing to break new ground. Through their participation, they can bring fresh ideas and solutions to politics.
To summarise, the participation of young people in social work not only contributes to solving current problems, but also lays the foundation for a committed and responsible society in the future.
