We bid farewell to a companion: Alfredo Randazzo 1

We were saddened to learn of the death of our long-time companion Alfredo Randazzo. A few days ago, shortly before his 74th birthday, he passed away peacefully. Alfredo, who had his roots in Sicily, had lived in Zwickau since the mid-1990s. During this time, he tirelessly captured numerous motifs with his camera, documenting life and developments in Zwickau over many years. Since the Alter Gasometer was renovated in 1999, Alfredo and the Alter Gasometer Association have also crossed paths. He has accompanied countless events, projects and press events with his camera, capturing the atmosphere and people in his pictures. In recent months, Alfredo was only rarely seen in Zwickau and the Alter Gasometer. His illness increasingly robbed him of the energy to take photographs in Zwickau, so that he only found his way over to the Gaso for a few events.

The man with his unmistakable camera bag, the camera around his neck and his jumper with “Al-Fredo” printed on it, the man who was always on the go for the next picture, he will be missed. In the Gasometer, in Zwickau.

Alfredo will always be fondly remembered. His warm and friendly nature, his special German, his way of taking photos. The memory of him lives on in his photos. We wish his family and friends much strength in these difficult times. We wish Alfredo a safe last journey home to his beloved birthplace.

Take care Alfredo.
